I know it's been a little longer than a week since I posted when my goal was to post at least once a week. But I have a good reason - at least I consider it a good reason. It has been a crazy week to say the least! Not only have I been on the search for our history, but I've also been on the search for a job and my sanity. I believe I've given up on the sanity issue at this point this week but I'm making great strides on the job front at least!
We did make some great finds this past weekend on our family history search though, at least in our eyes. While looking for family records and pictures from the piles of items we brought home after my father-in-law passed away, we "unearthed" a true treasure. We found the baby book my mother-in-law kept for my husband which included some interesting details. We also found my husbands christening outfit! I'm in the process of planning some layouts for these two special items! We also the death certificate for my husband's uncle who passed away at 2 years old from lead poisoning in the early 1940's.
It's amazing how once you start to look through pictures you can lose yourself in memories, even when you weren't there. You can almost see the places and life that took place when you hold an old piece of paper or clipping in your hands. I look at the pictures of my husband as a child and I see glimpses of girls in his grin or behavior. Funny thing is we lived less than one mile apart since we were about five years old until we were in high school but never met until we both went away to a vocational school over 30 minutes away in our junior/senior years of high school.
Quite fitting for the week of the Titantic anniversary - funny, I always hated history... til now.

Just Something To Scrap About...
Well here goes nothing as they say… whoever “they” are
right?
I am not sure where this blog will
take me or my followers but I’d like to think it will follow not only my
travels through my family history hunt, but my memories for my grandchildren as
well. I had the pleasure of knowing one
of the most wonderful men God had blessed the earth with, my Uncle Jack. His desire to track down and search for our
family’s history and the time he took to share it with me over the years did
not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, we
never realize what we have until it’s gone and God called him home last year
before I could spend enough time with him.
We always think we’ll have more time, don’t we?
To say that Uncle Jack inspired me would be putting it mildly. He was the first to be educated in his family and always down played his degree whenever we spoke of it. I don't think he truly ever understood until he was gone maybe just how important his education had been to ME. He was and is the reason I never gave up on attending college, so here I am - at my age - still going and I WILL FINISH! Someday - we will pick up these stories again Uncle Jack... til then, this one's for you!

| Emma and her FIRST Easter Bunny Visit 2012 She was unimpressed to say the least. |
Today I
had the pleasure of going with my oldest daughter Erin, our granddaughter Emma,
my mother and my husband to Emma’s first Easter Bunny visit. Emma was not impressed with the Easter Bunny –
she wasn’t frightened, she could just have cared less. But she LOVED watching all the people. We spent the rest of the morning with them,
watching her play and just enjoying her.
Those moments are the ones to cherish and be shared. As we were playing with her, I received an email
on my ever present blackberry from my church prayer chain. The father of a pastor who has been speaking
for us occasionally as we search for a new one had passed away. Again, time is fleeting – take these precious
moments with those you love, don’t waste your time on hate and negative
feelings because some day may God’s grace call you home.
